The Boston Celtics are on the road tonight and in New York to take on the Knicks at the Madison Square Garden at 7:30PM ET. While the Celtics look to remain in the hunt for the final playoff spot in the East, the Knicks are hoping to string together some wins as the season wraps up in an effort to avoid their worst season record since 1986.
The Celtics defeated the Knicks earlier in the season with a 102 to 99 win back on December 4, 2005. In that game Delonte West played 35 minutes scoring 17 points on 7 for 13 shooting. He also contributed to the win with his 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.
For tonight’s matchup, Delonte is expected to play against Knicks PG Stephon Marbury, who is averaging more points and assists per game than Delonte this year. Marbury though has been at odds all season long with new Knicks coach Larry Brown and can easily let his frustration show on the court. As Jack McCallum of SI.com humorously pointed out — it’s the first time a coach whose contract is worth about $50 million over five years is knocking heads with a player whose contract is worth about $77 million over four years.
Tonight’s game will be televised on FSN New England with the Celtics Pregame coverage starting at 7:00PM ET. Be sure to check out our official game thread for more coverage on tonight’s game against the Knicks!
