Delonte West and the Boston Celtics went into Madison Square Garden looking for a win when they needed it most. Instead, they got a shot of confidence by scoring the most points in a half of basketball all season long when they scored 71 points in the first half to help unravel the already troubled Knicks.

Delonte played 39 minutes in the game for the Celtics, who were down one point guard already because of the suspension and arrest of Orien Greene early Tuesday. In his game tonight though, Delonte went 8 for 11 shooting, 1 for 3 shooting the three and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line to earn 21 points. Add in 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal and you get a great overall effort for the second year point guard.
The Celtics cruised to a 123 to 98 win over the Knicks to capitalize on another loss by the Philadelphia 76ers. The win allowed the Celtics to climb within 3 games of Philly for the 8th and final seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Celtics will return to action on Saturday at 8:30PM ET when they travel to face off against the Chicago Bulls.
