On Tuesday, Pierce demanded a trade unless the Celtics drafted a veteran superstar. Boston obliged two days later, reportedly dealing third-year guard Delonte West, veteran Wally Szczerbiak and the No. 5 pick in the Thursday’s draft to the Seattle SuperSonics for sharpshooter Ray Allen and the No. 35 selection.
ESPN reported the deal was agreed to by both teams Thursday night and cannot be complete until all the pieces are drafted or announced.
As a Celtics fan, and one of the biggest and long time supporters of Delonte — I want to thank everyone who has helped to grow this community out since Delonte was drafted by the Celtics.
It goes without saying then, that our site will soon undergo a number of changes.

Certainly time for new wallpaper – however, I wouldn’t be too sure about Seattle – they may be moving to Vegas or OK City soon…
All season, all season, I have been chewing my finger-nails i was afraid of this. the worst has happened!
i am sad, and i wish delonte all the best. i guess now, i will turn my attention to the sonics much more than i used to…. at this point, i just hope that whatever happens, delonte will not be on the bench too long. but if we all agree, i think that wont happen. he will be fine wherever he is. GO DELONTE!
This trade is horrible. Don’t get me wrong i am a die hard Delonte and Celtics fan but the trade is bull.No offense to seattle fans but Ray Allen could only shoot. He can’t defend and is a 50 million dollar player for 3 years. WAY TO EXPENSIVE!!!
Well, as a Celtics fan I’m sad to see Delonte go.
As a Delonte fan, I’m excited for the potential he now has. Seattle is a much smaller sports town, but is certainly a team on the rise with the addition of Durant.
Additionally, you can bet that Delonte will be on nationally televised games for a long time to come.

Being from Seattle, I do not know much about West exceptt aht I saw a little with St. Joe’s. I guess he can play both 1 & 2 and is a good defender. That will help cuz Seattle’s defense desperately needs help. His numbers look pretty good, and he’s young. Seattle is unhappy about losing their best player… but it seems like we (sonics) got a lot in return! Hopefully West & Wally & Durant & Green (& whoever else shows up) will contribute to some wins.
Seattle will love Delonte and he will be missed in Boston. He was my favorite player.
The trade was terrible, people just don’t realize it now, but they will in two years.
The only silver lining in it is that Delonte may get a ring or two playing alongside Durant.
However, I think the Sonics messed up that #5 pick — they should have taken Yi or B. Wright.
My first thought to Delonte was – please come back to Boston after your rookie contract expires. My next thought was, “why would he do that when he actually has a chance to win titles with Durant.”

As a seattle fan, i’m happy for this trade — because of the youth and talent we recieved. however, allen is a special player who makes a strong impact on every aspect of a team’s offense. He is an amazing shooter who creates his own shot and excels under pressure, he passes well while double-teamed, and he runs the set plays well, frustrating defenders and cutting hard around screens. yes, because of his size he isn’t too effective against larger guards. however, you’ll soon be pumping your fist after another buzzer-beating three (and that will happen next season, many times) and whispering, while smiling to yourself: “ray.” you’ll see.
I WAS a Boston Celtics fan until they traded Delonte. Sometimes, I wonder what these people are thinking!! Anyways, I’m a fan of whatever team Delonte’s on, so GO SONICS! I’ll still watch the Celtics occasionally, but Delonte’s trade definitely sucks!
At least his chances of winning a ring just improved like 100%!!

See-ya Delonte! This is a great chance for Delonte ’cause he gets to play with Durant and Green. Not a great chance for the C’s. Trading Wally was OK cause we didn’t need him. But we need Delonte. Ya know? But, best wishes to Delonte, my main man.
As a Sonics fan, I will gladly welcome Delonte to our team. As an awesome fantasy basketball player, I know first hand the impact he can have on a game, in numerous statistical categories. Only a few point guards can do all the things he can do. Here’s hoping he continues to improve and becomes the starting PG for the Sonics!
