Delonte West Traded to Seattle

Delonte West has been traded to the Seattle SuperSonics, along with Wally Szczerbiak and the rights to Jeff Green in exchange for veteran Ray Allen.  All sources indicate that the deal is done, and that both teams and front offices have agreed to the deal…

On Tuesday, Pierce demanded a trade unless the Celtics drafted a veteran superstar. Boston obliged two days later, reportedly dealing third-year guard Delonte West, veteran Wally Szczerbiak and the No. 5 pick in the Thursday’s draft to the Seattle SuperSonics for sharpshooter Ray Allen and the No. 35 selection.

ESPN reported the deal was agreed to by both teams Thursday night and cannot be complete until all the pieces are drafted or announced.

As a Celtics fan, and one of the biggest and long time supporters of Delonte — I want to thank everyone who has helped to grow this community out since Delonte was drafted by the Celtics.

It goes without saying then, that our site will soon undergo a number of changes.

Delonte Likely Dealt with Szczerbiak and Pick for Allen Ray

Indications from FSN New England, television home to the Boston Celtics, are that Wally Szczerbiak will join Delonte West and the Celtics #5 overall pick tonight in a deal that swaps the players for Sonics veteran Allen Ray.

Please stay tuned for more details…

Will the Celtics Trade Delonte West on NBA Draft Night?

My thoughts and prayers are that this deal would not happen.  I like Rondo, but am obviously a big time Delonte fan.  A trade would result in a split of my allegiance to a degree.  I can’t forget about being a Celtics fan, but I’d certainly be watching a lot more of Seattle’s games.

The plus side, is that Delonte would be playing alongside Kevin Durant if he were traded.  I hope that’s not the case though.  Anyways, this is what was rumored on FSN’s blog…

5:42pm The TD Banknorth Garden

Our first entry here at the Garden and the big buzz surrounds CNNSI.com’s Iam Thomsen reporting that the Boston-Seattle trade has gained some steam. The reported deal would look something like this:

Celtics Get:
Ray Allen
Robert Swift

Sonics Get:
5th Pick
Rajon Rondo or Delonte West
Wally Szczerbiak

The hold-up apparently is the Celtics not wanting to give up Rondo and the Sonics not wannting to trade Swift. We will see how this turns out.

With the original story appearing on CNNSI.

I’ve got a 4 1/2 month old son to take care of… So I’ll certainly be posting as much and as often as possible.  Tonight will be a busy night though.

Bitter Dissappointment: Celtics Secure #5 Pick Overall

The NBA Draft Lottery has concluded, and the Boston Celtics have secured the #5 pick in this year’s upcoming draft, despite having the second worst record in the league last year.

As Yahoo Sports summarizes:

Losing did not pay for Memphis and Boston at the NBA draft lottery, where Portland won the No. 1 pick. Seattle will select second, Atlanta third.

Prior to the lottery, these were the top 10 players in the draft as ranked by ESPN:

Greg Oden, C
Kevin Durant, SF
Yi Jianlian, PF
Brandan Wright, PF
Al Horford, PF
Corey Brewer, SG
Julian Wright, SF
Mike Conley, PG
Jeff Green, SF
Joakim Noah, PF

According to those rankings, the Celtics would then end up with Al Horford, PF. Stay tuned for more news as things unfold, the organization reacts, and the fans riot.
