Celtics Home Tonight to Take on Knicks

Delonte West and the Boston Celtics are finally back home again, and will tonight have an opportunity to win their second straight against the New York Knicks.  Both teams come into tonight’s contest having won their last game.

The Celtics will look to exploit a new weakness for the Knicks team — the absense of Jamal Crawford.  As Yahoo Sports reports…

Guard Jamal Crawford kept the New York Knicks in the playoff hunt Monday. He may not have the chance to do so again.

The Knicks confirmed Tuesday that Crawford has a stress fracture in his right ankle and will be sidelined indefinitely.

The team’s best clutch player this season, Crawford was one of the heroes of Monday’s 99-93 victory over Miami, scoring 20 points and making a key 3-pointer in the waning seconds.

Skidding Celtics Hope to Steal One From the Rockets

Celtics Continue Skid on West Coast TripDespite winning their last game at home before the All Star break, the Boston Celtics continue to struggle now that they’re on their five game West coast road trip.

The Celtics opened up the trip with a 101-104 loss to Sacramento, where Delonte West scored 23 points.  The trip has continued on with a 118-108 loss to the Suns, a 122-96 loss to the Lakers and finally a 105-87 loss to the Jazz Saturday night in Utah.  Monday night the Celtics will look to snap the four game skid with a win over the Houston Rockets.

Despite the team’s poor record for the trip, Delonte West has continued to play well and have averaged 17 points through the four losses — six points higher than his season average.

Monday’s game against the Rockets will tip off at 8:30PM ET with coverage provided by FSN.  The last time the Rockets and Celtics met, the Rockets came away with a 91-73 win.  In that game back on December 7, 2005 — Delonte had 12 points in 38 minutes of play.

With these past four losses, the Celtics have dropped to 13 and 42 — good enough for the leagues worst record.

Delonte Scores 23, but Celtics Lose to Kings

Delonte Scores 23, but Celtics Lose to KingsDespite a 23 point effort from Delonte West to go along with a 26 point night for Paul Pierce, the Boston Celtics lost the first game of their difficult five game road trip. With the loss, the Celtics drop to 13 and 39 on the year.

Delonte West played a total of forty five minutes and hit nine of his sixteen shot attempts, including five of eight from beyond the three point line. West also added in six rebounds, seven assists and one steal while becoming the Celtics second leading scorer in the game.

The Celtics are back on the road and playing again on Wednesday night when they visit the Phoenix Suns in a 9:00PM game that will be broadcast on FSN New England. In that game, West will likely start opposite of MVP candidate Steve Nash — unless changes are made to the lineup as a result of Wally Szczerbiak’s most recent ankle injury.

Note: Wally went down tonight against the Kings when retreating on defense and stepping on Paul Pierce’s foot.  No immediate condition was available late Tuesday night.
