Celtics Stung by Hornets, Lose 106-88

Delonte West played 33 minutes in the Celtics loss on Monday night to the New Orleans / Oklahoma City Hornets. In his time on the court, West scored 4 points on 2 for 7 shooting, pulled down three rebounds and dished three assists. Paul Pierce led the Celtics scoring efforts with 28 points.

The Celtics lost the game by a final score of 106 to 88 despite outscoring the Hornets by 10 points in the final quarter of play. The deficit that the team created in the second quarter of play was simply too massive. After one quarter of play the Celtics led 31 to 26. The Hornets scored 31 points to the Celtics’ 9 in the entire second quarter — and that was enough to kill the night’s momentum.

The Celtics will return to action on their home court Wednesday to open up a four game home stretch against the Charlotte Bobcats at 7:30 PM ET.

Delonte Scores 23 as Celtics Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Win Over San Antonio

Delonte West and the Boston Celtics did something Saturday that they had not done since Tim Duncan joined the team… And that was to beat the San Antonio Spurs.  Coming into the game, the Spurs had won 17 straight games against the Celtics.  The Celtics had also gone seventeen years without having beaten the Spurs in San Antonio.  Fittingly, on the 17th of March — Saint Patrick’s Day — all of those streaks game to a screeching halt.

Third year guard Delonte West scored 23 points in 45 minutes of play, while adding two rebounds and four assists on the night.

The Celtics will next travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Hornets in an 8:00PM ET match-up.

Delonte and Celtics in San Antonio

Delonte West and the Boston Celtics are in San Antonio tonight to take on the Spurs. Celtics fans are hopeful that the team can snap Tim Duncan’s magic here on St. Patrick’s Day. The Spurs have never lost to the Celtics since Duncan joined the team. The streak is now at 17 straight games.

Celtics Travel to Dallas to Take on the Mavs

The Boston Celtics are the second worst team in the league.  The Dallas Mavericks are the best team in the league, having loss fewer games than the Celtics have won all season long.

Tonight at 8:30 PM in the American Airlines Center, the Celtics and Mavericks will tip off.  Delonte West is making the start at SG with Rajon Rondo at the point.  That move will force Delonte to be matched up against Greg Buckner.
