Celtics (5-8) Take on Nets (5-9) for Atlantic Division Lead
Are you sitting down? If so, I have just one thing to say… The Celtics, with a 5 and 8 record… are in sole position of first place in the Atlantic Division! Of course, with a loss tonight to the Nets, the Celtics would drop to one half game back. Still, there are a few reasons to be hopeful.
For starters is the fact that New Jersey comes into this game having lost six straight games. Second, Jason Kidd is playing like a kid unable to make an AAU team right now. As Mike Gorman said on WEEI today with Dale and Holley — in the final quarter of last night’s loss to the Bobcats, Jason Kidd had six turnovers and looked like he couldn’t even tell where his passes were supposed to be going. And, inside of that last point — New Jersey comes into Boston having lost four straight road games. Last night they finally returned home from a long road trip — but tonight’s game is in Boston.
So what about Delonte West? What can we expect of him tonight? Well, according to the folks over at Celtics.com — Delonte is just now catching his stride and getting in playing shape. In fact, here’s what the man himself had to offer…
“The past couple of days is the first time I’ve felt 100% healthy all around my whole body,” said West. “I can see the effects every day. I’m more confident going to the basket now. I’m putting it together.”
